I wonder how many people he has counseled because he seems to be able to break things down to the lowest common denominator. I’d say the part about being a monster you’d have to be the monster when the opportunity to be virtuous exists. The difference between a hero and a coward. It’s also virtuous to hibernate the monster within us. The part about it not being virtuous to not have the capacity to be violent I think is a very big idea that the masses need to be posed with.

I've been following him for many years...read his books..listened to him....like everybody else. But I'm just asking again for this particular part. What is this 'fight' about...? What are the situations...?? like for example? (I'm relatively an opinionated and extrovert person...so I'm genuinely wondering here.. in what situations you actually saying lies to please other people or not saying things..)

Society preaches convenience and doing things efficiently and effectively and then there are no challenges left. People's lives are so streamlined that we have to actively look for things to challenge us or we succumb to being in a rut. I don't believe people are lazy. I believe we have too many conveniences due to modern technology. Nobody wants to mow their lawn with a scythe they use a riding lawnmower that guzzles gas. You would not need a gym membership if you just gave up some modern conveniences.

What if its too late? Can i be bitter and resentful?

You know the most frustrating (to me) part of his message regarding this approach, which is setting goals in manageable chunks, at least to me is that people have been trying to teach us this my whole life. All through school there were smatterings of education (and maybe I'm one of the luckies in getting those opportunities, I don't know) in goal setting, goal orientation and goal achievement and there's nothing new in what he's saying to us than what I've heard my whole life! This is NOT new information. It just finally is catching people's attention because no one has been paying attention, welcome to hell on earth. Most people just choose to withdraw, for whatever reason, from that responsibility. I have been one of the few who listened to these things, and after a number of years of suffering finally threw up my hands in "who the hell cares anyway? No one is doing this stuff why does it matter?" Only to find myself after 10 or so years of that in a place exactly like he describes if you don't do these things - HELL. I'm much higher in agreeableness than the average guy so I have knowingly allowed others to abuse me for years, like they think they're getting one over on me... And no, you're not, I'm just letting you because I'd rather not hurt you then do what's right for myself. He's reminded me of how to get back to that place where I was when I gave up on it because who the hell cares no one is doing that anyway, right? I "GET TO" pick back up there because I get to choose to do it. I get to choose and so does everyone else. Don't let anyone else's choice stand in the way of yours. Do no harm if possible, but do not allow harm to come to you first, or there is no you left, and that means there's no one else left around you because they're scared of what might happen because you won't even defend yourself, let alone them. Be yourself no matter what anyone says. The only one higher than you is the highest possible goal attainable - I choose God but you're free to choose whatever you want. Hopefully you're not the highest thing you choose because everyone around you is in trouble if you do.
